Mike Angelina, Chief Actuary & Chief Risk Officer, made a presentation on Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) at the Excess/Surplus Lines Claims Association (ESLCA) Annual Conference on October 9, 2007 in Indian Wells, California.

The Enterprise Risk Management presentation covered how ERM can be a strategic weapon and the process of understanding the drivers of risk and the impact to underwriting decisions. Some of the guiding principals for enterprise risk management are to: optimally manage a company’s capital, eliminate risks that threaten solvency/viability, manage volatility, shape business by taking risk that can be quantified and create behaviors that reinforce ERM culture.
