Gero Michel
Senior Vice President, Head of International Property Treaty
Gero has over 26 years of experience in dealing with risk from natural and man-made perils. Prior to joining Endurance G.M was head of the climate hazards team of RMS in London. Prior to joining RMS, G.M. was a senior actuarial analyst with Hannover Re both in Bermuda and Hannover and before that an academic leader at the GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam and lecturer at the University of Freiberg, Germany.
Besides several years of underwriting experience, Gero has completed substantial academic research on hazard and risk and published numerous related articles. Dr. Michel received his PhD in Geophysics from the Eberhard-Karls-University, Tübingen, Germany and worked for 9 years at the GeoforschungZentrum in Potsdam, where he was manager of a research team that used modern space and surface data to derive a better understanding of the physical behavior of the earth for a better understanding of related risk. His current job includes leading an underwriting unit comprising analytics, product, marketing, as well as selling.
